Everyday Is Better Than The Next

I’ve been keeping a close eye on the Michael Vick dog fighting scandal thing. I’m not really trying to form an opinion on the thing because I honestly don’t care. I really believe that this case is media hyped beyond all belief, and now everyone wants to find a way to get involved. What I do find interesting is the number of different opinions that people have on this situation, and how everyone seems to be jumping on the “Let’s hang Vick” ship. Let’s look at a few examples of this.

1. The Anti-Abortion Crowd. Their question is “How can it be illegal to torture and murder animals while it’s legal to flush out an inch-long embryo?” Ok, I see their point on that one. It kind of makes sense, but why do they feel it’s their place to compare their anti-abortion rhetoric to this case?
2. The feminists. Their argument is why is illegal to torture dogs, but it’s ok to beat your wife. Yes, I can kind of see this argument too. However, my stance has always been “If your husband is beating you, why are you still with him?” A dog doesn’t really have that choice, a woman does. So feminists, just stay out of this one.
3. The Childish Idiots. The Atlanta Humane Society is asking people to donate Michael Vick jersey’s and apparel so that they can be used to clean up dog shit, as chew toys, and for dog bedding. Are you kidding me? To me this is completely ridiculous. Do you think the dogs care? No, they are doing this to “show” to everyone what a bunch of childish dog loving group of idiots they are. “Look at us, we clean poop with Vick jersey. Take that Vick you stinky butt.” I would also like to note that that picture of the Vick jersey in the kennel with the dog is photoshopped, and very poorly if I might add.
4. Possibly the biggest dumbass of them all is the guy that writes a blog from a dog’s point of view. Wow, where do I even begin with this one. How about a quote: “My ‘people’ are brutalized and tortured for human entertainment.” Are you serious? Get a fucking life buddy.
5. The raging redneck who has no idea what’s going on. This guy doesn’t really have an opinion on whether or not Vick is wrong, but he’s just pissed because somebody is playing “the race card”. I have some advice. Read about what the law is, what he is pleading guilty to, and learn how to use the caps lock key.

However, it’s not all bad. Some people (By some, I really mean that I have only found one but I’m sure there are more somewhere) have formed some well thought opinions on this debacle.

1. America’s Wildly Overblown Vick Hysteria. I think the title really says it all.
