“Hi, my name is GreenLantern and I’m Lostaholic.” The crowd says “Hi GreenLantern”. I continue “I’ve been Lost free for 2 weeks now, and I have to say it’s been great”. The crowd gives me a round of applause. This is a scenario that I don’t think is to far off if ABC keeps peddling their “hit” show Lost, like a dealer handing out crack rocks to kids.
Well, I for one am drawing the line right here. I’m never watching Lost ever again, and here are some good reasons that you shouldn’t either.
- It’s an addiction - Anything that you can become addicted to is a bad thing. Do a search for Lost and look at the hundreds of websites that this show has spawned and the hundreds of thousands of people who post in forums about what they think the numbers mean. If you spend more time thinking about a TV show than you do actually watching it, something is wrong.
- Lost is made to draw you in. - In the past TV shows were made to entertain people. Now they are made to make you want to watch more of it.
- The plot never get’s anywhere. - Lost is well into the third season and what do we know about the plot? Very very little. It took two seasons to even get a glimpse of what was going on, but once that happened it just opened the door for more questions and possibilities. Every answer just asks two more questions. When will it end?
- When it does end, you will be letdown. - Let’s face it. Every long running TV show ends up letting you down once it comes to the finale. So when Lost finally does end (probably around season 37) you will left holding your arms out saying “This is bullshit.”
- Who really cares? - This is the question that I asked myself that finally got me on the wagon and off the Lost. Who cares if they ever get off the island, or if Jack and Kate do it, or who the others are, or if Hurley ever loses any weight, or if the Chinese guy ever learns to speak English. What is the point? It’s a TV show, it’s not real. I’ve ran into people that talk about this show like it’s their family. “Did you see what happened to Locke last night? Oh I almost cried.” When you care that much, it’s time to stop and ask yourself why.

hahahhaahahahaa.
Lost is not an ordinary TV show…it is a primetime soap opera. You see, a soap opera is defined as a show that deals with the everyday lives of the same group of characters.. ABC has turned you all into Soap junkies! What has our world come to?!?
Amen brother! I’ve never thought of it that way, but you are exactly right.
I watched the first two seasons on DVD. Watched this one Live.
I have 2 more reasons after tonight’s episode I’m not watching lost:
1) ABC runs more commercials than shows (I didn’t realize how bad this had become on network TV)
2) I’ve never seen a season STOP after 6 episodes (that were all lame). Do other TV shows ever do that? As far as I’m concerned, a forced 3 month break is a great recovery plan. Great, lost is gone for 3 months and though it may come back, I’m not.
Yet another believer. Start the revolution, and stop watching Lost.
Poke a fork in it…. Lost is done and I\’m done watching it. I don\’t care about any of them anymore. I don\’t give a crap it they get off it, go back to it, fly over it, boat away from it, time travel to it, time travel on it, get their asses kicked by fast moving black smoke or back stab each other again and again. I\’m D.O.N.E. Done.
Except for the very last episode. I\’ll watch that.
