The Wiki Craze

It seems like there is a wiki for everything these days. The most popular of course being Wikipedia. There are other wiki’s that I am pretty fond of including Wikiquote and Lyriwiki.

Basically, a wiki is like an encyclopedia that anyone can edit. They can be used for various different subjects like the 1985 bears, your family, your class, or even work procedures.

You may be wondering how you can start a wiki. In the early days you had to either write your own software or install software on your webserver. Now there is a company called BluWiki that will host your wiki’s for free. You don’t need any software, and you don’t even need to know HTML. (Take a look at their tutorial for building a wiki: How to create a free wiki)

It’s wiki to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that’s right on time, it’s wicki, wicki wicki.
