I’ve always been a fan of obscure and weird facts. This list (click read more below) is pretty nice. Here are some of my favorites:
4. 10 percent of all human beings ever born are alive at this very moment.
I had to think about that one for a second. This means one of two things. A. We haven’t been around that long. B. There are a lot more of us than there ever use to be. I have come to the conclusion that it is a combination of the two.
23. One million, million, million, million, millionth of a second after the Big Bang the Universe was the size of a …pea.
This is something that most people can’t even begin to comprehend. This means that everything, and I mean everything, in entire universe was the size of basically nothing at one point.
33. The wingspan of a Boeing 747 is longer than the Wright brother’s first flight.
Isn’t that ironic……don’t cha think?
64. There are more living organisms on the skin of each human than there are humans on the surface of the earth.
And suddenly I can feel them crawling all over me.
97. If every star in the Milky Way was a grain of salt they would fill an Olympic sized swimming pool.
How many grains of salt do you think are in a teaspoon? How about in your salt shaker? How about an entire box of salt? Now imagine an Olympic sized swimming pool full of salt, how many grains of salt would that be? Now once you have calculated that number consider this: That is only counting stars in our galaxy (the Milky Way), there are roughly 100 billion other galaxies. All of this really makes you realize what an insignificant spec of dust on a spec of dust you are in the grand scheme of things. Why did you even wake up this morning?
the last few sentences of this post leads me to believe your crying for help. dont shoot yourself man.
It was meant as more of a “why not sleep in instead of going to work” kind of thing, and not a “take a bottle of sleeping pills and never wake up” kind of thing.
